This kit not only includes the Pro Mini and FTDI board, but 40 male headers, six right angle male headers (great for the FTDI connection), two sets of 2-pin female headers for the offset A6/A7 and SDA/SCL pins, a tiny breadboard, jumper wires, and even a couple of LEDs with resistors to get you blinking right away.Ī six inch, mini-B USB cable for your FTDI board is also included, this cable is short but mighty and works well with this tiny setup. The latest and greatest version of this board also breaks out the ADC6 and ADC7 pins as well as adds footprints for optional I2C resistors. Once you buy your first Arduino board or an FTDI adapter, the USB circuitry can be omitted.

Having the adapter is convenient for prototyping, but in a deeply embedded projects this is a waste of money. If you're supplying unregulated power to the board be sure to connect to the "RAW" pin and not VCC. Every mainstream Arduino board comes with a USB-to-TTL adapter on-board that adds about 15-20 to the board price. The voltage regulator on board accepts voltage up to 12 VDC. The SparkFun Arduino Pro Mini Starter Kit - 5V/16MHz works well with the FTDI Basic Breakout which is why it is included in the starter kit.

The USB micro-b connector has been replaced with the USB type C connector. The benefit of the reset button is to quickly reset the board or place it into bootloader mode without the need to take out a piece of jumper wire. If you're supplying unregulated power to the board, be sure to connect to the "RAW" pin on not VCC. There is a voltage regulator on board so it can accept voltage up to 6VDC. Running at 5V and 16MHz, this board will remind you a lot of your other favorite Arduino-compatible boards but this little guy can go just about anywhere.
#ARDUINO MINI USB ADAPTER SPARKFUN SERIAL#
This tiny little board does all of the neat-o Arduino tricks that you're familiar with: nine channels of 10-bit ADC, five PWM pins, 12 DIOs as well as hardware serial connections Rx and Tx.

The board is the same size as the original Pro Micro but we added a few additional features by shrinking down some components on the board such as a reset button, Qwiic connector, USB-C, and castellated pads (this makes it really handy for you custom keyboard creators out there)! Think the Pro Mini except with an ATmega32U4 on board and full USB functionality. That's why we're adding to our line-up of Arduino-compatible microcontrollers once more! The SparkFun Qwiic Pro Micro is a revision of the original Pro Micro and is, overall, functionally the same as the previous version. Here at SparkFun, we refuse to leave 'good enough' alone.
